Let's Pause for a Minute

Hey guys!

After a long and rainy month, I can now officially say happy summer! And I hope that where ever you are in the world, that you're going to have a great one.

It's that time of the year to discard our study notes, and welcome the sunny rays with open arms (and quite literally, too). I feel like in our everyday lives, our mindset is always go-go-go, never really coming to a complete stop. Even when we unwind; take a steamy bubble bath, read a novel, do a hobby, go online, we are still doing something. It might not seem that way, but we are.

To this minute, I'm constantly writing a list of things to do in my head. Things both exciting and not so much, like summer festivals with friends, as well as dealing with life's occurrences.

But when was the last time we took a few minutes, sat down, and simply focused on nothing but our breathing?

For the past week, I've taken around 10 minutes out of my day to press that pause button on life, and to cherish the little things. For example, if it's a warm day, I will sit (or lie down) on the grass, look up, and listen to the birds, or the leaves.

Writing this out I'm afraid this topic sounds kind of boring, and by now you're probably thinking, "But I seriously don't have time!".

The whole point I'm trying to get at, is that sometimes we all need a break from our thoughts and our tasks, and the only way to do that is to pause.

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed by life in general, that you felt you needed to pause? I'd love to hear your side of things!

  1. I feel like we live in such a fast world now that we forget about these things. We really need that pause to just breath and relax at least for 10 minutes like you said. To sit down and appreciate everything good in our life, in our day or just to simply remind ourselves to calm down relax and enjoy the little things such as watching beautiful sky or listening to birds. This post really inspired me to start doing this :) Thank you

  2. Oh I absolutely know what you're talking about. Ever since I've started feeling utterly stressed I decided to take a couple of minutes every morning to meditate, breath and just do nothing. It's such a game changer, really!

  6. You're so right, sometimes we're so busy doing everything at once that we forget to stop and just cherish the moment. Thanks for writing this and reminding me that hitting that pause button for a few minutes (or half an hour, hour - why not?) is super important for feeling great and learning to love and enjoy life even more! xx

  8. Gosh I'm so in love with your blog! What you said in this post is so true. I feel like we often struggle with fully relaxing because we're constantly thinking about all the things we should be doing. I really like the idea of just sitting in the grass for a moment so I'll definitely do that more often this summer x

  10. I agree. It's nice to just stop and look around you and just appreciate everything that's around you for once instead of comparing your life to someone else's. I find often when I'm social media I'm always comparing myself to others' lives and it makes me feel unhappy. But when I actually stop to think about all the good things happening for me, then I feel happy and satisfied. I've learned that life shouldn't be a competition, even though sometimes its hard to stop yourself from comparing with others.

    1. The power of social media is absolutely wonderful sometimes, but at the same time, I can definitely agree that it can be freakishly scary. It's like they're trying to create a reality that is impossible to achieve. :) x
